Tomar 2024: the Templar Festival

Tomar's Festival of the Knights Templar, a not-to-be-missed event that is fast approaching, celebrates the spirit of this order that has profoundly marked the city's history and development.

The 2024 edition, to be held in the Mouchão park, promises total immersion in this unique legacy. The festivities, scheduled from July 11 to 14, will take over the streets of Serpa Pinto, Magalhães, Infantaria 15 and Praça da República, where merchants and craftsmen will have the opportunity to display their stalls.

More than just a celebration, the event aims to bring the era back to life through historical re-enactments, guided tours, seminars and much more. The initiative aims to immerse participants in the history, legends, secrets and myths surrounding the Order, the richest and most powerful medieval institution of its time.

The city of Tomar, with its rich history intimately linked to this order, sees these emblematic figures as more than just symbols; they embody its very genesis.   • 6:00 pm, Praça da República - Official opening of the festivities
  • 8:00 pm, Seven Mountains Wood - Dinner
  • 23h00, Açude dos Frades - Dragon fire

Friday, July 8

  • 10:00 - Children's parade
  • 8:00 pm, Convent of Christ - Royal dinner
  • 22h45 - Reconstruction of the siege of the castle in 1190

Saturday, July 9th

  • 10h00 e 13h00 - Cultural tours
  • 10:00 pm - Parade of Nights

Sunday, July 10

  • 9:00 am, Bois des Sept Monts - Route des Châteaux Tournament (Historical bow and crossbow)
  • 10h00 e 13h00 - Cultural tours

The craft fair and Tasquinhas will be held:

  • 7th, 6:00 pm to midnight
  • on the 8th, from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am
  • on the 9th, from 12:00 to 1:00
  • on the 10th, from 12:00 to 19:00
