Porto, Portugal's most emblematic city, is getting ready to celebrate the 50th anniversary (April 25, 1974) of the Carnation Revolution in style. Open-air concerts, fireworks displays, parades and family activities are on the program to commemorate this historic event.

The heart of the cityAvenida dos Aliados and Praça do General Humberto Delgado will be the focal points of these grandiose festivities.
The evening of April 24 will kick off with a video-mapping show from 10:00 pm, marking the start of the celebrations. The show, a collaboration between the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Commission, RTP, photographer Alfredo Cunha, musician Rodrigo Leão and artist Vhils, promises to be memorable.
Fifteen minutes later, the Avenida dos Aliados will vibrate to the sound of the "Aliados à Liberdade" concert, with the participation of Canto Nono, Vozes da Rádio and the Chœur de Lettres de University of Porto. The great songs of freedom, which marked the revolution, will resound throughout the city, culminating in the singing of Grândola Vila Morena and a fireworks show at midnight, illuminating the city's skies with a thousand colors of freedom.
The bank holiday on the 25th also offers something for everyone. From 10:00 am, family entertainment will be offered on the Praça do General Humberto Delgado.
The highlight of the day on the 25th will be a tribute to anti-fascist resistance fighters at Largo Soares dos Reis, followed by the traditional Freedom Parade. The procession will leave from Largo Soares dos Reis and travel along several emblematic streets before ending on Avenida dos Aliados.
Avenida dos Aliados will once again be the center of the festivities, with a commemorative concert starting at 3pm, conducted by André Castro and featuring Marco Quaresma, Pedro Matos, Sofia Beco, Beatriz Cerqueira, Tiago Pacheco, Fernando Maia and Leonardo Carvalho.
This entire celebration is the fruit of collaboration between the municipal Ágora and the Commission for Popular Celebrations on April 25.
